You are invited to come and have a virtual cup of tea, a bottle of champagne, or a nice cosy, rich, smooth, hot chocolate, with me, in this snug little nook. If the table does not suit you, I have the most beautiful, intimate, friendly, and warm, lounge area on the other side of the room where you can relax, unwind, and chat in dulcet tones, and leave the troubles of the world behind. Yes "we are doing it tough at Uni", and this is a place you can come and be yourself, and be treated like you are the most important person on the planet, (which you are - no-one realises it yet). You may eat and drink anything to order, everything is made fresh to your specific taste, and you will be looked after so that you feel safe, and secure, in this place. The company will be relaxed and entertaining, and you will feel energised, happy, and will laugh many times, because you are having the most wonderful time. I look forward to your visit. Dimensions of Learning / Learning Engagement Theory

After reviewing DOL and the Learning Engagement Theory it seems to me that DOL encompasses the Learning Engagement Theory. In Dimension 1 - Attitudes and Perceptions - the engagement of students is of utmost importance. It seemt that DOL reaches into the required regions of most instructional design. It is a broad framework which can be used when planning the design of lessons which include or are totally ICT based. I am looking forward to further reading on other frameworks. I must congratulate the person who has designed this course. I am starting to understand that although there is a great deal to learn, this course is bringing everything together for me. Not only am I learning some great new programs and ways of working with ICT's, I am enjoying reading about teaching pedagogy, frameworks, learning theories and ICT tools which are all displayed in a logical manner and sectioned throughout this course.

  1. Hi Gema, I think you have summed it up pretty well. As long as learning managers compartmentalise the DoL framework as aiding the learning journey AND the learning environment, it will continue to benefit students. The idea of also picking out the best components of different frameworks is very intelligent. Bloom's taxonomy is definitely worth doing a comparison to, to draw parallel's and improve learning even more. Eric Frangenheim is a useful source of information on Bloom's (Revised) Taxonomy.
