Come for a Chat

Come for a Chat
You are invited to come and have a virtual cup of tea, a bottle of champagne, or a nice cosy, rich, smooth, hot chocolate, with me, in this snug little nook. If the table does not suit you, I have the most beautiful, intimate, friendly, and warm, lounge area on the other side of the room where you can relax, unwind, and chat in dulcet tones, and leave the troubles of the world behind. Yes "we are doing it tough at Uni", and this is a place you can come and be yourself, and be treated like you are the most important person on the planet, (which you are - no-one realises it yet). You may eat and drink anything to order, everything is made fresh to your specific taste, and you will be looked after so that you feel safe, and secure, in this place. The company will be relaxed and entertaining, and you will feel energised, happy, and will laugh many times, because you are having the most wonderful time. I look forward to your visit. Bye from Gema.

The Big Six Skills

The Big Six Skills seem essential to using ICT's in the classroom. They are a simple framework, a set of questions to which students can make clear, complex ideas or problems. They also take into account the evaluation or reflection stage which is so important for learning. As a teacher I could take the Big Six questions and help students apply these as a lifelong skill. I want my students to have some lifelong skills which have been embedded in their psyche and which they can use daily for their problems and higher order thinking needs. These are simple and easy for them to remember. I shall make up a simple poem or acronym for them to remember these processes. For example TIL Use ( could be the start of something easy for them to remember). T - task definition, I - information seeking, L - locate information, U - use information, S - synthesise information, and E - evaluate information. They could be told that Til Use means that every time they have to buy something throughout life, they could use this framework to make their decisions and thus save themselves money for the Till.
